
California Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (CATA Chamber) hosted ConnecTA 2011 – 2nd Annual Networking Event, bringing Turkish and American businesspeople together at Hilton Costa Mesa on October 10, 2011. Among participants were Consul General of Turkiye Honorable Aydın Topcu, California State Senator Curren D. Price Jr., California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, and Dr. Wallace Walrod, VP of Economic Development and Research Orange County Business Council.
The program started with exhibitions where companies introduced their businesses and products to the participants. In his welcoming speech, President of CATA Chamber Dr. Remzi Oten highlighted the mission of CATA Chamber, and the facilitating role of CATA Chamber in bilateral trade relations between Turkiye and California.
After Dr. Oten, Turkish Commercial Attaché at Los Angeles Gurkan Suzer delivered a presentation regarding Turkiye and its significance in world economy. Orange County Business Council Vice President Dr.Wallace Walrod, presented facts about Orange County businesses and discussed infrastructure and trade opportunities within the county.
In their closing remarks, Consul General Honorable Aydın Topcu, Senator Curren D. Price Jr., and California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, shared their insights.
In his remarks, Consul General Topcu stated that there is an important potential between Turkey and U.S. in terms of business and investments. Senator Curren Price said that Turkish and American businessmen should work hard to search for the opportunities in California, and he also wanted businessmen from California to find out more about Turkey's potential.
